Shelby’s Answer

As someone in my final semester of learning to become a teacher, I can say I put a lot of time into prepping for future classes, as well as researching effective teaching strategies. However, free time is dedicated to video games!

Yasemin’s Answer

Hi Karoline! When I was not in class, I would study at the campus library or be at work, or grab some lunch with my friend. I would usually finish all my schoolwork on campus and then go home at night and try to relax. I think being on campus would make it easier to complete all my work and then go home for the day. There were times when I would go home and still study a bit more for an important exam or complete a paper! I do also agree to try to relax as well and maybe take part in campus activities that may be available like yoga or clubs that you like to join.

Best of luck!

Tsui Ying’s Answer

When I was on campus, I would spend free time messaging/ hanging out with friends, doing readings for next class or researching jobs. If you have enough energy then getting ahead and on top of work is always a good idea. Equally, if you are in a safe environment, taking a quick power nap is more than justifiable. Check out whether campuses and student bodies have put out relaxation zones on or around campus.

Christine’s Answer

Of course when you are not in class, you do need to take some time to relax, have some fun, socialize with others, and take care of yourself. As a professor, however, I also cannot stress enough the importance of staying on top of your coursework and assignments. Try your best to do class assignments ahead of time and try not to save them for the night before they are due or the last minute. You will learn so much more from the process if you invest your time and energy in trying to do a good job. Also, use your time when you are not in class to prepare for your upcoming classes. I believe it is so important for students to read course material prior to the lecture on the topic. If you do this, it will help you to really learn the material and you will also have an opportunity to ask questions during the professor's lecture on anything in the readings that you did not understand. Finally, when you read ahead of time, you will have more to contribute to class discussions which not only helps you to remember the material, it enhances the class experience for your instructor and peers. Good luck to you.
