What are some internships involved with animation or illustration?

I'm studying to go into the animation field, along with concept art. Does anyone know of companies that have internships for those just starting out?

I do not know of specific internship programs you can look at, however I thought I might throw out an idea of finding projects you can volunteer to work on. Message indie game developers and ask if there is something you can help then work on. Treat it like a job and make connections. The more practice and experience you can get working on things will build out your portfolio in the way you want because you can be selective in what you take on as a volunteer.

Also just making up your own projects can be helpful toward building the type of portfolio you want to be hired for.

I also highly recommend you seek out industry leaders you admire and message them to see if they would be willing to mentor you for a season to help you improve your skills in a particular area. Most people in the creative industry are open to helping others find their way. The worst they can say is no and the best they can say is "you're amazing, come work with me."

Hi,

For animation, I know that Pixar and Disney always have internships available, although you may need to be enrolled in college or of a certain age bracket to do those. A lot of internships also depend on whether or not your style of artwork aligns well with the look of the studio. The good news is, there are a lot of studios out there that offer internships. There is probably one you will like! Most of those are for animation.
