Tenzin’s Answer

It depends on individual’s interest and what you are more inclined towards. Nursing is truly a noble profession that demands hard work, dedication and an extraordinary amount of compassion and selflessness.

Peter’s Answer

Hi Marie - that is an interesting question indeed. If you are seeking career longevity (i.e. the number of years you can practice in the chosen profession), I think the nursing route is a better choice. Over time, you can become an expert in the nursing profession. If you believe that you can make an immediate entry into the modeling field, I would encourage you to experience this - it will definitely add to your personal development. Both careers require hard work, constantly learning and perhaps re-inventing yourself. Hope this helps. Good luck! - Peter

David’s Answer

My guess is that Nursing would provide a better means for a long-term career and personal growth. It would also require a lot of upfront work in terms of education and experience. I'd put 80% of my energies into Nursing, BUT I'd also try to do so modeling on the side. I would imagine their is a fantastic up-side to a modeling career if you have the right attributes and some luck.

Riley’s Answer

This is really just depended on your preference and circumstance. If you value helping people and job stability, nursing is probably the better route; but if you have a unique appearance and love traveling and meeting new people then you should go with modeling.

The pros of being a model are the possibility of making it big and becoming famous, traveling the world, and making up to $10 million per year. Also, if you become famous enough you could use your platform support causes you believe in. However, it is extremely rare to become this famous and you need to work really hard and make a lot of useful connections early on. The lowest average salary of a model in the US is around $30,000 per year.

As for nursing, there is more schooling that is required which is a big expense for most people. However, once you are done with the school your average salary in the US will be $40,000-70,000 per year. I would say that the hard work required for this job is the biggest downside, but there will always be a demand for your job so there is much more job stability than you will find as a model.

Nurses are always in demand and you will have the ability to chose where you want to work and what kind of nurse you want to be. You would be able to have this career through the later years of life until retirement. Good luck
