Hey Davis,

You definitely need a degree in marketing to get a job for a sports related field. I would also say just having love for sports! Sorry if that sounds basic, but I think it’s true. If you love sports I think that you will be able to get creative, versus someone that knows little to nothing about it. I think it would be a great idea to get an internship doing something that aligns with your career goals.

Hi Davis,

Like mentioned above, you should follow that academic route which will provide you with technical insights and theoretic basis - this can be done if you already practice sports or not.
It can also open doors for the entrance on a professional level - usually the Universities have protocols with entities (like a football club, for example) that facilitate joining the working market.

Now, if you are already doing sport activities, you should continue and even enhance them, depending on the context, some observations:
- Networking; By being with your peers on these activities you can develop new bonds, open new channels and opportunities, receive good invitations;
- Having fun;
- Keep in shape;
Sometimes, like in other activities, success can also be set up as being oin the right place at the right time.

And finally, something that is always welcomed in the Marketing world - being proactive.

Investigate the areas where you are comfortable like your neighborhood, parish or your campus, etc and acess the oportunity to create an event. Something small even, like a 2 days football tournament. Envolve the municipality to bring some funds and/or venue, get a good cause to sponsor. Bring your peers and ask them to bring more, make it happen and have fun doing it.

This can open the doors to further experiences, meet new people and, at least, give you experience on stuff like this that, when the time comes (after studies, going full pro into the labor world) you are ready and welcoming the challenge.

Remember, like in sports, don't give up, give your maximum and respect the others as well as yourself and you're set to be well prepared to face the challenge. Good luck.

ps: i did take this masters in sports mkt and management, not working professionally on the area but lucky enough to have funded a small futsal club and starting now to grow to incorporate kids (eventual community project)
