How much time do social workers spend on average

In terms of working per week, I would speculate it's in the 40-60 hour per week range like many salaried jobs in the US.

I have seen estimates below 40 hours per week, and as low as 20 hours, in terms of one-on-one consultations with social work clients (i.e. the people they help).


But this does not seem to include outside preparation time and other required job components like filling out paperwork, and I am not sure I trust those estimates since they seem low...

if you get enough time, you can spend most of the time in social service. you can spend around 25 - 45 hours per week.
