I owned my own business for a while and it can be very rewarding. I highly recommend that you spend some time working within the industry you want to start a business in. You can learn, get training & getting paid which can be a HUGE benefit to your business.
Basically, if you want to start a catering company, go work for one for a while.
A degree in business can be helpful (but not required) and connecting with mentors or organizations like SCORE can be helpful.
