Congrats! If you’re reading this, it means you’ve just posted content on the platform, like a question, comment, or answer! Thank you for contributing to the CareerVillage.org community. Here are some FAQs that may address your questions about pending content.
Why is my content pending?
Don’t worry; this doesn’t mean anything is wrong with your content! The first three pieces of content (specifically questions, comments, and answers) posted by every new user must be approved by our moderation team before the rest of the community can view them. Once they are approved, they will go live immediately. If they are not approved, you’ll get an email from our team explaining why and giving you feedback so we can work together to make edits and get your content posted.
After you have posted more than three pieces of content, your content will be auto-approved and posted to the platform. Moderators will still review all content within 24 hours of being posted. Should there be any issues, we will reach out to you directly!
Who can see my content?
Only admins and the original poster (aka you) will be able to see the content during the pending phase. Once it is approved, all community members will be able to view your content.
How long does it take to approve content?
All content will be reviewed within 24 hours of posting. Please note that we are a small non-profit organization, so it may take a little longer on weekends and holidays.
Why approve the content before posting? Why not just post it immediately?
Great question! There are a few reasons for this, but it all comes down to improving the experience for you, our users.
- Reduce Spam—No one wants to log onto CareerVillage.org and see ads for suspicious websites and services. By requiring approval, we can ensure we are only allowing genuine users onto the platform and quickly weed out those with ill intentions.
- Improve Question Quality Leads to Better Answer Quality—Over the years, we have received great feedback from our Professional community, mostly focusing on improving question quality. This approval process allows us to work with learners to ensure their questions are of the best quality before they go live for our Professionals. Over the years, we have found that better question quality, such as using correct spelling/grammar and adding useful context (grade level in school, career interests, etc.) gives our Professionals more information, so they tailor their advice and give even more personalized guidance to the learner. This leads to happier Learners since they get to hone their skills in asking good questions and happier Professionals (we all love improved question quality) as they engage with interesting, unique, and diverse questions!
