Looking for a volunteer event that is simple to organize and can engage hundreds of volunteers with ease? Join social impact-minded companies like Armanino LLP in hosting an annual Advice-a-thon.
CareerVillage offers a plug-and-play volunteer program for corporate partners that can engage hundreds of volunteers at once. Our events require no pre-work, no training, and no stress. All we ask is that volunteers join the call ready to share their experiences with students.
What is an Advice-a-thon? A virtual volunteer event where volunteers work at the same time to answer career questions from youth, either individually or in small breakout groups.
How many? 5 to 800 volunteers | How long? 30 minutes to 1 hour
Goal: Providing superb career advice to students on the platform.
Agenda:
- 5-15 mins: Overview of CareerVillage.org, including our mission, the importance of our volunteers, and how to use the platform for maximum impact.
- 30-40 mins: Volunteers sign up and start giving advice! Depending on the preferences of your team, this can be collaborative or individual time.
- 5 mins: Reflect and debrief with the group.
What is required of your team? All you need to do is send out the calendar invite, and we take care of the rest. Volunteers aren’t asked to do anything in advance of the event – they don’t even have to leave their homes! Everything from learning about our mission, signing up to be a volunteer, and writing advice to students takes place on the call with a CareerVillage.org host.
Armanino LLP Annual Advice-a-thon
One company that has experienced the effortless nature of teaming up with CareerVillage is Armanino LLP. Armanino LLP, a national public accounting and business consulting firm, provides key areas of service in assurance/audit, tax, consulting, risk and advisory and business management. In recent years, Armanino LLP has made a significant commitment to creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. In doing so, they have built community involvement into the company culture, which is very evident through Armanino LLP’s support of CareerVillage over the past two years.
In the Spring of 2022, Armanino LLP reached out to CareerVillage to host an Advice-a-thon, and it was as simple as that. CareerVillage provided the Zoom link and Armanino brought the volunteers – hundreds of them, actually! The Zoom meeting had over 350 volunteers, and by the end of the event, Armanino employees had posted 225 pieces of advice on the platform. It’s no surprise that positive energy is a core value at Armanino – the following Spring of 2023 they leveled up with 389 pieces of advice during one event.
This enthusiastic volunteer community contributed so much insight to CareerVillage students and really enjoyed the time they spent doing it. In a survey following the event, the Armanino LLP volunteers gave the Advice-a-thon experience an average rating of 9.5/10. Read more to see what these volunteers had to share about their experience.
