Hello Bill! It's fantastic to always chase the dreams that stir your heart. As a musician and music teacher, I'm thrilled to hear about your aspirations. I must share, though, that this journey can be challenging. If you're planning to make a living out of it, you'll need to be financially savvy, as the income in this field can be unpredictable. But don't let that deter you! With proper planning, you can certainly make it work. It's also essential to consider your preferences in music, because when you're in it as a profession, you may not always get to do exactly what you love. You'll have to do what's necessary to sustain yourself and earn a livelihood. But remember, if your heart is set on it, forge ahead! Take care and stay on the right track!

It's a tough path my friend, but I'm hopeful it's worth taking even if you don't achieve 'success' in the traditional sense.
Try to develop your own instincts and expertise: I haven't found any real shortcuts personally, I've just surrendered to the xp grind. Put in as many hours of work as you can, as often as you can. Focus on only your preferred subjects if you like, but depending on what type of person you are there's benefit to 'cross-training' by working on things that are related to your true love.
Find people you admire and befriend them, learn everything you can from them, treat them (and yourself and everybody else if you can manage it) with love and respect. Anytime you see an opportunity to do actual work with high level people, take it, even if the process is painful. Keep your senses as open as possible so you might notice and take advantage of hidden opportunities.
Good luck, keep the dream alive

Hello and good afternoon.
Well it's very noble of you to want to turn your desire for music into a career most people don't even make it that far but what I will say it really depends upon you Music is a very beautiful but treacherous business and just because you may have a desired for music may not be what it is that you're going to wind up doing for the rest of your life I've been a musician for close to 60 years Music is my life I've had the ups I've had the downs I've had my turn around and all other rounds you can think of. So to make a loan statement short you need to get your schooling in order and go to school and at least try to get some kind of bachelor's of art in music or music education all depends on how you want to do it. I'll leave this with you one of my old professors told me something like this need is stuck with me All these many years"if it was that easy everybody would be doing it!!!"so you better buck up cuz it's not going to be an easy ride!!God bless.
