What are the best college credits to get done and out of the way by doing college credit plus?

I am graduating high school next year and I am looking at taking some College credit plus classes. I was thinking about taking a class during the summer and one my senior year of high school, but I do not know which ones I should take. Therefore, I have been trying to figure out which ones I should get done and out of the way so I don't have to worry about them. #collegecredits

If you're planning on going to a four-year university, you'll have to take several general education classes before you can even begin major-related courses. I would suggest you get the History and English courses out of the way before you go to college because those more closely relate to what you're studying in High School. Those are also generally the most general and will more closely apply to the courses any college would offer. You usually need 2 History and 1 or 2 general English courses. Other social sciences are also a good idea as Government, Psychology, Sociology, and Communication are often required core or required electives. Math is more degree and school specific, so I would save that until you decide on your school and degree program.

This is a great question!! With another year left in high school you have the ability to atleast take 4 AP credits. In my personal experience, I took 7, 3 in the fall and 4 in the spring. The BEST AP class to take is AP CALC AB/BC. If you work hard and receive scores of 3 and above you will get credit for Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 in college. No one like calculus 2 in college!! It's very challenging! AP Econ is also a great, easy course to knock out and is a relevant topic as you transition into college. I highly recommend a AP LANG or AP LIT to help with an English credit but because I only got a 3 on the exam, my university didn't accept this credit and I actually really enjoyed these courses in college. I am not a good student when it comes to history so I didn't have any interest in taking this AP course and had to take it in college. The best advice I can give you, is chose AP courses that you know you will do well in because it is a great GPA booster that will help you get into college but also I would hate for you to waste your time in the course, take the AP Exam and not receive a score that will result in a college credit. This leads me to another point. Have you considered duel enrollment at a local college close to your high school? There are resources that will help you determine if the college will accept your class credit but you get to be in a college classroom setting and as long as you pass the class with a D or higher, you will receive credit for college and this score doesn't effect your high school GPA. I hope that this helps you in your decision and I wish you the best of luck in your senior year! Enjoy it!!

Some programs allow students in grades 7-12 to apply for College Credit Plus admission to public or private colleges. The college will admit you based on your college-readiness in one or more subject areas. Your school counselor can help you understand your options, deadlines, and what steps to take.

The College Credit Plus program allows you to add to your high school coursework if you want more responsibility. Or if you want to be able to get through college faster this is a great option. Some students are able to complete their freshman year of college during high school..
