Aurelia (Auri)’s Answer

Hi Neha,

Hope you are doing well! First of all - it is completely okay to go into college as an "undecided" major. You can take various courses in your first year to see what interests you, but I would suggest you try a little bit of everything - science, math, business, etc.

I chose the accounting field myself, because I figured every company needs an accountant! So for me, it was very important to have a career that had job security and a profession that could transfer into various jobs. As an accountant, you can work in a variety of areas in business and the job is transferable to various cities as well. In my career (in the past 7 years), I have actually moved to 3 different cities for both personal and job related moves. So overall, my advice is to choose a profession and a skill that can be transferable. Good luck!

I started with a finance degree. It has provide me with many options and provided me with the ability to get my first real job. Eventually, I began to explore other options and starting in the field of technology. It took me to the current career path I am currently in at this time. I took additional classes to improve my technical skills and obtain certifications within my field.
