If you have the curiosity to become a health coach, along with an interest in the topic, passion, time, and a computer, it's as easy as that.

The Health Coach Institute offers online certification and classes.
- It’s a structured program that you can complete in 6 months to a year.
- You’ll be paired with other coaches for labs, where you can practice and hone your skills.

Four years ago, you had to complete one coaching client to earn your certification, but I’m not sure what the current requirements are. I also don’t recall the exact cost I paid, but you can visit their website for more details.

The certification is dual—both for health and life coaching.

When I started looking for a health coaching program, I ensured it was an approved program to get NBC-HWC credentials. That's the highest credential you can get right now for certified health and wellness coaches. Best way to choose a program is to go to check out their website: https://nbhwc.org. At least you will know you're getting a legitimate education, as there are a lot of programs out there that may not provide high quality education.

Look up some jobs online and see what they are asking for as far as education and skills, that will give you a good idea as to what direction you might want to consider. Speak with a current certified health and wellness coach about their experience to learn whether this is something you really want to do.
