It's great to hear you're so interested in your future career. I'm not a cosmetologist. However, I do know that many schools partner with local community colleges to provide programs for students to gain skills like cosmetology while still in high school so that by the time they graduate they are on their way to working. You might want to ask your guidance counselor what opportunities your school or district offers that you might be able to be a part of. There are likely also entrepreneurship courses which will help you learn the business side of things as well.

This will give you a real-world understanding of the daily duties and responsibilities of the job, as well as expose you to the latest techniques in the field. This experience will prove technical background which is beneficial when you begin your cosmetology training.
In addition, it would be beneficial to gain some business knowledge. Look for business-related courses at your high school, focusing on areas such as marketing, accounting, and supply chain management. These skills will be invaluable when you're running your own salon.
Furthering your education with a general business degree or a management degree from a local college could also be a great way to strengthen your business acumen.
And remember, you don't have to wait to start your business. You can begin offering makeup services right now! Use social media to get the word out and start building your client base.
