How can i study both medicine and business at the same time?
I am currently studying in grade 10 in Nepal .My parents want me to pursue medical field when I grow up but I am more interested in real estate business and property management. I don't have enough guts to tell my parents about it and even if I did I am sure that they will never allow it .Now I am thinking of studying both but It feels like it will be hard for me to study both .I don't really have an option if i want to study business. I will have to study it secretly but I am sure it will be very challenging for me to dedicate my time to both the subjects. So I respectfully request an advice from talented individuals to let me know how i can study both.{i am still in my second year of highschool}

Gee, I do see a bright side to your situation but with the lack of support and feeling obligated, I understand why you may, at this time, think it is impossible to fulfill both your aspirations of being a doctor and doing Real Estate.
The advice is: take one thing at a time. Concentrate on your science classes in your secondary school. Live in the moment. Be involved with activities, groups and clubs connected to human sciences. A lot will change between now and when you go to college.
My advice is to graduate secondary school and take a pre-med path in college with a human science major. Then go on to Medical School. This will be many very busy years for you preparing you for a wonderful career as a doctor. You would not be able to study or do both at the same time and that is what your parents probably already know so they are trying to help you see things realistically for your benefit. Becoming a Licensed Real Estate Broker may not take as long as it takes to become a medical doctor, but Real Estate as a career is intense in itself. You really have to rethink studying it "in secret" - it can't be done that way. Any preparation for a career needs to be done freely and openly and there is the money you would need to take the courses and get your License or certification, whichever they do in Nepal.
Once you are practicing as a doctor, you will see how filled your days will be and even maybe nights,, too. Doctors dedicate themselves to their work and focus on caring for patients and it is quite deep and there's a lot to learn. However, there is something that you can look forward to once you have established yourself in your medical career and have built up the financial stability.
You can either go for the training and license to deal in real estate or you can just buy and sell houses as a private individual. This can happen when you are financial secure and able to do this venture. So it's not like you can never ever be involved with real estate, it's just that medicine and real estate demand too much time and energy to do them at the same time. It may be something you strongly want to do, but the more well informed you are, the better you will understand why it's not a good idea to attempt both at the same time.
Once you have the financial means later on, you can even purchase real estate, rent it to tenants and that will fulfill your desire to be involved in property management. You can very easily do the medical career but the real estate involvement will need to come at an appropriate time later on. In the meantime, you can read about real estate and look at houses that are for sale at Open House events and speak with the Real Estate Broker to learn more. Part of coming to terms with this is to talk about it and learn more.
I wish you all the best !

Get Your Time-Management Superpowers: Imagine you’re a time wizard (like Doctor Strange, but with better study habits). You’ve got to split your time wisely between medicine and business. Start by planning your days like a boss. Use a calendar or planner to block out study times for each subject. Medicine and business might sound like a lot, but you can totally make it work by organizing your time like you’re managing two big projects—because you are!
Learn the Art of the “Secret Double Life”: Okay, you don’t have to go full-on superhero and wear a cape (unless you want to—no judgment here!). But consider pursuing business knowledge on the side, in a way that doesn’t clash with your main focus—medicine. You can dive into online business courses, read real estate books, or even practice property management concepts in your spare time. Just keep it under wraps for now if that’s what feels best, but definitely use your free moments to learn.
Multitask Like a Boss: You’re already studying medicine, so you’ve got some serious multitasking skills. Now, mix in some business knowledge when you're doing your daily routine. For instance, when you’re on your commute or taking a break, listen to business podcasts or audiobooks about real estate. You can even take a little notebook to jot down ideas when you get inspired. That way, you’re not just studying, but absorbing information on both subjects at once.
Be a “Real Estate” of Mind: Real estate is like medicine—it’s all about knowledge and understanding people. While you’re learning anatomy or physiology, think about the "anatomy" of a property or the "physiology" of a business deal. What’s the "heartbeat" of a good investment? What are the "nerves" that keep everything connected? The two might not seem related at first, but I promise, that your medical brain will help you think through business challenges in new, smart ways. It's all about connections—pun intended!
Make Small, Smart Moves: You don’t need to go full-time into real estate management right away. Start small—maybe help a family member with a small property project or look into a side hustle like renting out space. It's like dipping your toes into the business world without diving into the deep end. You can manage a mini-business just like you’d manage patient care—step-by-step, with lots of careful planning.
Stay Energized, Stay Ambitious: I know, studying medicine and business sounds like a lot (and yes, the caffeine intake will be real!). But trust me, when you have that burning desire to succeed, nothing will stand in your way. You’ve got this! Just like I managed to squeeze in artist marketing and small businesses while diving into medicine, you’ll find your rhythm. It’s all about that unstoppable energy. Your ambition is like a fire, and when it burns bright, it lights up everything you touch.
Remember, it’s not about doing everything perfectly—it’s about doing it with heart, energy, and a pinch of humor. So, whether you’re listening to business podcasts or mastering the art of the stethoscope, know that you’re on the path to greatness. Just keep your head high, stay focused, and never forget that laughter is the best study break!
Go rock both worlds, Pearl—you’ve got what it takes to conquer both medicine and business. Believe in yourself like I believe in your multitasking powers (which are clearly superhuman). Keep that fire burning, and trust me, you’ll do amazing things!

To summarize what everyone has said: while it’s not impossible to pursue both real estate and medicine, it would be extremely demanding to handle both at the same time, especially on your own. This could lead to mental and financial strain—especially since you plan to study real estate secretly, which means your parents may not support or fund it. Attempting both simultaneously might even dampen your enthusiasm for either.
To avoid this, I suggest following Rosita’s advice: have an honest conversation with your parents. Try to help them see your passion for real estate and why it’s important to you. If they’re very strict and unwilling to compromise, you might consider their suggestion to study medicine first. This doesn’t mean giving up on your dream of real estate; as Michelle mentioned, you can always pursue it later, one step at a time.
I can relate to your situation. My dad, who was a pharmacist, wanted me to study medicine. I initially wanted the same, but when I got into university, I couldn’t meet the cutoff and ended up studying Food Science instead. My mom supported it, but my dad was disappointed. Over time, he accepted it, and I completed my degree in Food Science. However, I still have my dream of studying medicine. Once I finish everything in my current field, I plan to go back and pursue medicine, even if it’s part-time.
So, don’t feel like you’re giving up. It’s never too late to start over or achieve your dreams. You can still gain knowledge on the real estate course while studying medicine, so you'll have an idea of your passion. Take it one step at a time to avoid burnout and resentment. You’ve got this!
Thank you for listening, and I hope this helps.
