Hello again, Tiana !
I am happy to know that you are asking more questions. Do excuse me if I repeat myself because I may have stated the same things in one of your other inquiries, but I am happy to help out.
The career of a Writer involves a variety of ways to obtain paid projects. You are going to have to explore the opportunities for your town of Lincoln and the nearby towns if you want to apply for a staff job at a company. Do you know how to do Technical Writing or any form of writing that a business may need like advertising copy, scripts, web content, etc. ? I know there's more, but these are mostly what a company would hire a writer for and usually you would need experience as well as a diverse and large portfolio of your work. The salary would be what ever the company offers the writer.
The other way that a writer can receive pay is to write something and then submit it to a project that will buy your creation. You need to subscribe to the writing Trade Magazines for this or register at either Linked In or Indeed to see the notices for Writers. The Writer, a magazine, has notices for submissions and I left a link to their guidelines for you below. You can subscribe to it or visit your local library to read a copy and the librarian can help you and maybe even show you more trade journals for Writers. It's not just a matter of asking where to submit, you really kind of have to do some interaction and be ready to have work that is sellable. So you'd send your written work to a place and just wait to hear back if they bought it. Nothing is guaranteed but trying brings you closer to getting paid. Don't worry, I am in a similar work, acting.
Now, Rhode Island Publications Society publishes works from writers about Rhode Island's history, economy, and cultural life. Do a search for their website online. Breeze Publications, Inc. in Lincoln publishes also and you can do a search for their website. Cathedral Corp is a publisher in Lincoln, too and you can read their website online by doing a search. It's good to have this basic information but you must explore what types of writing they seek and also use The Writer, Indeed, and Linked In to find projects. An impressive portfolio of your writings will help you along the way to getting paid. No one can say how much or when you'd get paid, however, until one of your works is accepted after a submission.
If you want to write poetry, self-publish and create an E-Book and charge a fee for people to download it. Do a search online for "how to set up an e-book" for the information. Also look into self-publishing hard copy books, too, but it does cost you a fee. You can find information for this online, too.
I hope this helps and wish you all the best !
