You will never be replaced with artificial intelligence! As an HVAC tech you will be busy. But you also will have to make some sacrifices too. There will be hot days working on a roof. Cold mornings drilling holes and running wire. You will miss holidays and time with family. It's also amazingly rewarding as well. When there is a freezer full of food and you fix it to save the day It's an amazing feeling. When someone has no heat and you get there heat back on you will be prized. You can be a hero every day and get paid!

Hi, Derrick!
It's you're choice if you believe it's the way to go! Whatever interests you in it, either money, liking the trade, or what, it's important to think through your decision.
You should do research on HVAC. Look up the cost of pursuing it, look up what colleges or other facilities offer HVAC, and look up the requirements to get into that career!
Overall, I believe it's your decision on if you want to do HVAC or not!

Brad’s Answer
I married the eldest daughter of the owner of an HVAC company in central Florida. There's never a lack of work. He started out learning the trade as an employee and then forked off to start his own business and built into a very successful local company over 30+ years. He's now mostly retired, two of his sons have taken over and they continue to expand beyond the small family business it was started as.
Like any trade (and most careers), i'd say you should be prepared to pay your dues and understand that riches may not come immediately. But those skills will become invaluable for you and your employer over time. If you like troubleshooting / problem solving, i believe this could be a very rewarding choice.

Good Day Derrick!
Is HVAC a Good Career Path?
Overview of HVAC Industry
The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry is a critical sector within the construction and maintenance fields. It encompasses the installation, maintenance, and repair of systems that control indoor climate conditions. As of 2025, the demand for skilled HVAC technicians continues to rise due to several factors including population growth, urbanization, and an increasing focus on energy efficiency.
Job Market Demand
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment for HVAC technicians is projected to grow by 5% from 2022 to 2032, which is about as fast as the average for all occupations. This growth is driven by the need to replace older systems and improve energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings. Additionally, as climate change leads to more extreme weather conditions, there will be an increased need for effective heating and cooling solutions.
Earning Potential
The earning potential in the HVAC field can be quite favorable. As of May 2023, the median annual wage for HVAC technicians was approximately $50,590 according to BLS data. However, wages can vary significantly based on experience, location, and specialization. Technicians who specialize in areas such as refrigeration or commercial systems may earn higher salaries.
Training and Certification Requirements
To pursue a career in HVAC, individuals typically need a high school diploma or equivalent followed by vocational training or an associate degree in HVAC technology. Many states also require technicians to obtain specific licenses or certifications. Organizations such as North American Technician Excellence (NATE) offer certification programs that can enhance job prospects and credibility in the field.
Career Advancement Opportunities
The HVAC industry offers various pathways for career advancement. Technicians can move into supervisory roles or specialize further in areas like system design or energy management. Some may choose to start their own businesses after gaining sufficient experience.
Conclusion: Is HVAC the Way to Go?
Given the steady job growth projections, competitive wages, training opportunities available, and potential for career advancement within the HVAC field, it appears that pursuing a career in HVAC could be a wise decision for those interested in skilled trades. The industry’s resilience against economic fluctuations also adds an element of job security that many other sectors may not provide.
In summary, if you are considering a stable career with good earning potential and opportunities for growth in New Iberia or elsewhere, HVAC is indeed a promising path worth pursuing.
