Finding a good career to go with.

I have a lot of careers that i plan on majoring in but I am very undecisive on what i want to do or what pays more. I love to work on things that are hands on and not sitting on a desk all day. I love to explore and go adventure and discover new things but not everyone will be given the chance to do that.

Jasanpreet Kaur’s Answer

You are in the same dilemma in which I was some years back. I felt the same who will give me the opportunity to work in diverse fields.

But, nothing is impossible. Once you enter into the job world, you are not just confined to do certain things only. It is completely up to you if you want to take more challenging opportunities or if you want to change anything which is there in the process. Your feedback and suggestions are more than welcome in the organization. But yes, there is a way of giving feedback or asking for more challenging opportunities.

First, "prove yourself". Prove yourself to the organisation that you are the best fit for the role which is currently given. Then you can discuss with your Manager that you want to take more responsibilities or you want to change your role or if you want to change your department.

Job rotation is possible in most of the organisation depending up on the Managerial Support.

So, don't worry about this as of now. Moreover, as soon as you will get experience in the diverse field you will get to know which field is /are best for you.

Good Luck!

Jasanpreet Kaur recommends the following next steps:

When you have identified the potential opportunity, talk or visit a person whom you know and has a vast experience in that field. Take a help from a person in your school who can connect you with your seniors who are currently working.
