How can I increase my chances for the Direct Med program?
I know that the Direct Med program is extremely competitive, but what can I do to make sure that I have a competitive resume that will higher my chances of getting in too? Do I need to make sure that I have good grades, good extracurriculars, or what?

It sounds like you are asking the right questions which shows your interest and determination! You can definitely do this if you put your mind to it. I am a fourth year medical student and I would also recommend shadowing physicians. It can be a great experience to build a relationship with a mentor and ask them for a letter of recommendation. You can shadow a doctor you have personal experience with or ask your family/friends for recommendations. Any experience that gives you clinical experience will help!

Hello there! I am a first year medical student. You're right, it is competitive but that doesn't mean you can't do it! Good grades in undergrad are really important, but so is the MCAT. I recommend preparing a year in advance for this test, and do your very best. Finally, having a lot of community service will look great, and is a great way to see if you like to field of helping other people. Try to volunteer in a health care setting. Also, make sure you have a least one leadership activity because as a physician you will need to be a good leader and group member. Good luck and stay positive.
