Involvement in extracurricular activities is a great way to differentiate yourself from other college candidates. Involvement in a number of activities within the school environment, such as sports, clubs, student government, etc. can help to portray you as a well rounded student with varying interests and abilities. Community involvement outside of school, such as volunteering, community theater, etc., will reinforce and strengthen this. Of course, your GPA and standardized test scores (SATs/ACTs) will also be very important to colleges when considering admission. Be sure to study hard while balancing involvement in extracurriculars!

Try to form a narrative with your extracurricular activities. For example if you are passionate about science, your activities could include science bowl and volunteering could include mentoring underprivileged children at science and math.
