Hey Chad, working with exotic animals in conservation is like dating a celebrity—exciting, unpredictable, and sometimes a little dangerous.
So lets start with the challenges:
They don’t follow workplace rules. Try explaining “no biting” to a parrot that lives to bite.
The job never ends. Animals don’t take weekends off, so neither do you.
It’s not always glamorous. Yes, you’ll help save rare species, but you’ll also clean up legendary amounts of poop.
Rewards:
You get a backstage pass to nature. Imagine waking up to a lion’s roar instead of an alarm clock.
Making a real impact. You’re literally saving species, one snack and snuggle (from a safe distance) at a time.
Bragging rights. “Oh, you have an office job? That’s cool. I spent my morning feeding a baby sloth.”
Tips:
Stay patient. Animals don’t work on human time—they work on "I’ll do it when I feel like it" time.
Learn to improvise. If a monkey steals your pen, you don’t have a pen anymore.
Love the chaos. Every day is different, and that’s what makes it awesome.
If you’re ready for adventure, a little dirt, and a whole lot of wild experiences—this is the job for you! Good luck and go rock your dreams and those curiosities.
