John’s Answer
Employees must be able to fulfill the fundamental requirements for a job. Today worksites are managed with contracts, legal agreements and regulations that your employer must follow. If you do not wear the required PPE your employer can fall short of one or multiple requirements / regulations and be fined or open themselves to lawsuits.
That being said if you refuse to meet the requirement of wearing PPE your employer has every right to fire you for not meeting the requirements for the job.

It is very possible that repeated violations of not wearing PPE could result in termination. Wearing PPE benefits you the most.
