Aside from this, any major is acceptable as long as you complete the prerequisite courses. I chose to major in biochemistry because there was overlap with the premed requirements and I wanted to complete my degree in 3 years.
Typical medical school prerequisites include:
Biology: Lecture – 4 semesters; Lab – 1 semester
General Chemistry: Lecture – 2 semesters; Lab – 1 semester
Organic Chemistry: Lecture – 2 semesters; Lab – 1 semester
Biochemistry: Lecture – 1 semester
General Physics: Lecture – 2 semesters; Lab – 1 semester
Math: Statistics – 1 semester
You need to prepare for the MCAT. Subjects on the MCAT include:
Organic and inorganic chemistry.
Physics.
Biology.
Biochemistry.
Basis research methods and statistics.
Psychology.
Sociology.
Ethics, philosophy, cultural studies as well as population health, social sciences and humanities.

Hi Cole,
You will need to fully involve yourself in the sciences. Most notably, you will need to take several Biology, Chemistry and Anatomy classes to prep yourself for medical school. Math is also an important component in your preparation as well. As an aside, some colleges offer Healthcare classes that give you a "day in the life" of medical professionals. These can be quite helpful to better facilitate an understanding of what happens once you graduate medical school.
Good luck!
