Hey Wesley! Awesome to see you getting into snowboard tricks! Since you're in 6th grade, I’ll assume you're not trying to backflip off a helicopter (yet). So, let me tell you just a few!

The Ollie – Is literally your Snowboarding Superpower. Okay so, this is the base of almost every trick. Bend your knees, pop off the tail of your board, and jump like a ninja escaping homework. Practice on flat ground before taking it to jumps.
180s – Spin, But Don’t Become a Human Snowball, unless I am watching—I’d have a little laugh! 😎 So, start with frontside 180s (turning forward) because blind landings on backside 180s can get spicy. Use your shoulders to guide the turn, and remember—spot your landing or prepare to meet Mr. Ice.
Ever tried buttery Tricks – For Smooth Style. Learn to press (lean onto the nose or tail of your board) and spin slowly on the snow. It looks cool and makes people think you’re better than you are. Win-win.
Oh, and there are Rail Slides – Avoid the Bruised ground hit Club though. Start small. Approach the rail straight, bend your knees, and keep your weight centered. Don’t lean too far forward unless you want to be in a "fail compilation" video.

Commitment – The #1 Trick of allll time.
Most crashes happen because people bail mid-trick. If you go for it, commit! Your snowboard senses fear!

Bonus Advice from solid experiences of ice and snow buddy---Always Wear a Helmet
Because, let’s be real—snow is soft, but ice is just frozen regret. How do I know this? Let’s keep it between us—I did try a few back then and ended up bringing snow with me and blamed it on the cat. My cat is out for me! 👀👀🤫

Good luck and have fun rocking those tricks, Wesley!

Bright’s Answer

As a 6th grader learning snowboard tricks, focus on building a strong foundation first—master your balance, turns, and basic moves. Start with small tricks and practice them until you're comfortable, then gradually try harder ones. Always keep your body loose and your knees bent for control. Remember, progression takes time, so be patient and don’t rush it! Stay safe, wear proper gear, and have fun while you improve!
