Hi Kenniah,

This is a very good question that I’m sure many people struggle with! Many people struggle during their years in college deciding what they want to do as well. I would say the best way to understand what you want to do is to take different classes relating to potential majors you have in mind. See if these classes work for you! Do they engage you?

As you had mentioned you want to take dance seriously. I am assuming you are heading towards the performing arts major.
Find a college that specializes in the arts! Here’s a suggestion for the future:
- attend college fairs, they tend to have professionals attend these fairs and you’re bound to find opportunities there.
-find internships or programs outside of school that can help you work towards your goal!

Hi,

This is an important question that a lot of young adults (even me) have asked. I think that if you are unsure of what you really want to do, the best thing is to try everything.... it can't hurt. Whether it's the arts or sciences, or politics; try to put yourself in a position where you are doing something that intrigues you/ motivates you. If you gravitate towards one thing more than another, maybe you can choose to hone in on that and explore It further. You always want to make sure that you are constantly applying yourself and putting yourself out there.

Dance is a form of art/ entertainment. It is possible to make money off of your art. If you want to pursue dance further, try taking private dance lessons if you don't already to better yourself as a dancer. Try taking choreography lessons so you can learn how to choreograph as well or just try to learn the art of dance. Build a resume so that way people know you are serious about what you do. Of course, try to apply to schools that specialize in dance so that way you get more opportunities to showcase yourself and get work in that field.

I am not a dancer, but I am a musician and I know that the more skills you know how to do, the more job opportunities you can get in the field of your choice. Investing in yourself is the best way to ensure that you achieve and have the skillsets to do anything you want to do in whatever field it may be.
