Hi Danny,
Pursuing a career in writing is a fantastic goal! Many jobs can help you with your writing skills, as almost any role involves some level of writing. College degrees also emphasize clear communication and effective writing. In the current market, specific jobs that can improve your writing skills include content writer, journalist, editor, technical writer, PR specialist, research assistant, and social media manager. Exploring these roles will give you valuable experience and enhance your writing skills for a successful career. Good luck!

This all depends on what type of writing career you want. But it's true that if you want to be a journalist then you should see if you can get on at a local paper or magazine, etc. But if you want to be an author then you'll need to find a more niche location to begin writing. Thankfully, there are plenty of online sources you can look up and businesses who are always looking for content writers. But my advice is this, learn more than a couple of different writing styles, since this makes you more valuable and affords you a greater skill set than someone who specializes in one style. Also, learn how to edit, to proofread, and you'll only continue to expand your skills. But there's one skill that I continue to promote:
Just write.
Just write.

Hello, Danny !
If you are in high school, you can sharpen your skills now to prepare you for college on your way to become a professional writer !
Something that you can do to practice writing would be to write reviews online. You can write product and service reviews for various companies or services you have tried. This will give you practice expressing yourself and paying attention to descriptive detail. Some of the websites that you can do this for are IMDB for movie reviews, Yelp, Trustpilot, Amazon, Google Local, CitySearch. Many store websites have review sections for their products, too. Just look up what products you use and go to the website, a retail store, and see if they have a review section.
Utilize Writing Prompts that you can easily find online to get ideas for what to write. Some websites for this are Journal Buddies, Written Word Media, Story Writing Academy for writing prompts, Hobby Lark and many more that you can probably find on Pinterest or through an online search.
In high school, you should take as many English and Creative Writing classes that your school offers. Also try to read at least one book per month of your choice. Write every single day.
For the rest of your time in high school, write for your school newspaper/website. Ask your English teacher how to go about it. This will be the beginning of getting your writing published. Also find out about any other extracurriculars that are offered through your school.
If you are in high school, this is the time to hone your skills, gain knowledge, be active writing and gather a collection of your works. To obtain paid projects or employment, you will be expected to have published works that you could send out to prospective employers.
Inquire about writing groups, workshops and events outside of school, too. You can inquire about these opportunities at the websites of The Writers Grotto, The Writing Salon, the San Francisco Writers Workshop and many more can be found through an online search but you'd have to ask them if they offer their services to your age group.
So since you are still sharpening your skills and learning how to be versatile, exploring the writers community, you are doing the right thing. Employment opportunities may come later but first you'll need to be prepared as it is with all careers.
I would advise going to college for a Bachelors Degree and getting involved with the Writers community on and off campus. Networking will be very important for future projects, work or employment.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !

See if local newspapers will let you intern by covering events for them. If they do, also post your work on your blog, Substack, or any platform you like. Most importantly, read regularly to expand your vocabulary.

This depends on what type of writing you wish to do. The jobs can vary depending on what you want to attempt to build on. Ghostwriting can often be good for someone who is willing to write both fiction and non-fiction, if you prefer to do things like blogs or article writing, there's always companies that are looking for writers to do those things for them.
