Hi Darrian,
When preparing for college make sure you have all of your financial aid filled out, and your transcripts sent to the schools of your choosing. If you have not done FAFSA then make sure that gets done. You can always call the school of your choosing to see if they received your information. Also check to see if you have to take any special placement tests. Not all school require a placement test, but double check to make sure yours is not one of them. Once again, different schools have different deadlines. When I was in high school my class started applying for colleges junior year. If you have your financial aid and know whether you are living on or off campus. Then you should be good to go. This could be a great time for you to visit the schools as well.

It also doesn't hurt to have a couple recommendation letters ready in case they are needed for the application, or if not for the application then potentially for scholarships. Be sure to ask one of your teachers or advisors well in advance of needing the letter and make sure you are asking someone who knows you well enough to comment on your performance as a student and/or leader. Lastly, don't forget to write them a thank you note when they are done.
