What happens if we don't complete a degree?

That’s a great question, and the answer really depends on the person, their goals, and what they want out of life. College can be an incredible experience, but it’s not the only path to success.
For some careers—especially those in medicine, law, engineering, and other specialized fields—a degree is essential. If you want to be a doctor, for example, you need years of education and training to learn how to safely treat patients. Many jobs require specific degrees or certifications because they involve complex skills that take time and structured learning to develop. In these cases, not completing a degree may mean that certain career paths are no longer an option.
However, that doesn’t mean success or happiness is impossible without a degree! Many careers—especially in trades, technology, business, and entrepreneurship—don’t require a traditional college education. People can build great careers through apprenticeships, vocational training, self-education, or starting their own businesses. Some of the most successful people in the world found their path outside of college by gaining real-world experience, learning on their own, and developing skills that set them apart.
The key is to understand what you truly want to do and what steps are required to get there. College can provide valuable education, connections, and opportunities, but it’s not the only way to learn and grow. No matter which path someone chooses, the most important thing is to stay curious, work hard, and never stop learning—whether that happens in a classroom, on the job, or through life experiences.

If not, maybe a certification or a high school diploma will get you there. Remember, not all paths require a college degree to lead to a fulfilling career.
