How should I always stay ahead of my course work?

I am planning on studying electrical engineering, and from general school experience the course work doesn't cover everything needed to go on and excel in a job. How should I go about researching and studying on my own to always prepare and stay ahead for future opportunities.

Kris’s Answer

Gaining experience early on is crucial. Check if your university or college partners with companies that hire electrical engineers. Secure an internship in your field. If needed, offer to work for free while you're in college. Consider shadowing a professional.
