How should I tell my parents I want to become an actress/start acting at 14?

I am a 14 year old girl and I do ballet at a pre professional level. I train 5 times a week for atleast 2 hours a day but it’s more often like 4/5 hours. I still love ballet and would not like to quit but I want to persue acting also. How should I tell my parents. I’m concerned that they won’t approve and won’t let me try acting in films or shows. I don’t want to act for fame or money either. I want to act because I have done a little and I loved it. How should I ask?

If you have a friend/peer group who are into filmmaking/theatre plays, then try to do a small project like short film or something.
If that doesn't happen try to audition yourself on some movie scene or a self made scene of your choice and then approach your parents regarding this wish of yours.
Most probably if you're genuine with this decision and are quite skilled enough then they'll allow you to spread yours wings for sure.
Cheers and All the Best ✌🏻

I totally get where you’re coming from. Honestly, I started not for the money either I just loved it. Acting gave me a way to live out all the different jobs and lives I dreamed of, kind of like how ballet lets you tell a story with your body.

Your dedication to ballet already shows how hardworking you are, which is huge in acting too. When you talk to your parents, maybe let them know acting isn’t about fame or money for you—it’s about passion, just like ballet. You could ask to start small, like a class or a local audition, just to explore it more.

And yeah, sometimes parents don’t get it at first. Mine wanted me to be a doctor. It took a lot of explaining and showing them how serious I was before they came around. So don’t be discouraged if it takes time. Keep showing them you’re serious, and don’t stop trying. You’ve got this.
