I'm a 14 year old looking to get a good amount of money. I've tried reselling, and even pickle making. I just dont know what to do now because those flopped. What should I start doing ?

I'm looking for things such as creating my own products (cheap and easy to make) and/or online ideas. Thanks!!!

Thank you comment icon First, I love that you have a goal to make some money. Starting with the end in mind and maybe setting a SMART goal as to how much you want to earn and the time frame (realistically) in which you want to earn it, is a good place to start. Have you taken the time to evaluate why the other things you tried weren't successful? If not, I'd encourage that so that you know what works and doesn't and you can try new strategies with your next venture. Since reselling and pickle making didn't turn out as you'd hoped, have you considered dog walking, picking up after dogs, pet sitting, lawn care, etc. as possible ways to generate some income? Try to think about what your customers might need and what talents or simple things you can do to help with those. Shandy Reed

Hello student,
If you're looking to make money, you could start by creating handmade products like jewelry, custom t-shirts, mugs, or candles and sell them on Etsy or Instagram. Stickers or upcycled items are also easy to make and ship. If you're into digital stuff, try affiliate marketing by sharing products you love on a blog, YouTube, or Instagram. Another great option is offering freelance services like writing, graphic design, or video editing on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork.

If you prefer working directly with people, you could try tutoring students, pet-sitting, or social media management. Photography or videography services are always in demand too. To get started, keep it simple and test your ideas. Stay consistent with posting, and use free tools like Canva or Google Sheets to help keep you organized. Social media is a great way to market what you’re doing, so engage with your audience regularly.

Most importantly, have fun with the process and keep learning along the way. Stay patient, and over time, you’ll start to see results. If you need more specific tips or advice, feel free to ask!

Hi there! It's amazing that you're eager to become an entrepreneur. As someone who's been down this path, I want to share some tips with you. Always learn from your experiences. Use different resources to understand what worked and what didn't in your business. This will help you grow. As you start your next venture, find a mentor or two to guide you. Choose a business idea that you're passionate about or have good knowledge of. You've got this! Good luck!

First, identify your market, then what product you're going to offer (whether it's digital or a product you're going to ship/sell in person).
Additionally, what your investment will be. If it's limited, you might be able to create easy-to-use products and advertise them on social media. Another important product that's gained a lot of ground is a YouTube channel or in Tik Tok, making videos...

And most importantly, a lot of passion for what you do and patience, because success can take time. The first few months and perhaps years require more investment and dedication, but then you'll see the results.

Consider becoming a content creator for your pickle products! Social media is a great way to share your creations with the world. By promoting your pickles online, you can boost your sales and grow your pickle-making journey. (Fun fact: I absolutely LOVE pickles! :D)

As a student, you might want to start a social media account like TikTok. Just check with your parents first. I'm a restaurant worker and a full-time artist and DIY enthusiast. I'm from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and my name is Dia. I'd be thrilled to help you on your pickle adventure!

Dr. Terrell’s Answer

Sounds like in your heart of heart you are an entrepreneur, which is great. The first thing that I urge you to learn is how to sell and how to become really really good at selling. If you become really good at selling, you will always have money in your pocket. The thing that is secondary and I emphasize this is secondary. Is Marketing only learn marketing after you’ve mastered sales.
