I would like you to explain what is the best editing equipment to use for creating youtube videos?

Hello, I am a sophomore at Hudson High School Of Learning Technologies and ever since I got a touch screen phone I have been watching YouTube videos. I have been subscribed to multiple youtube channels of people that review or just talk about movies, anime and videogames. I have always wanted to do this as well however I don't know where to begin. I have a camera and a computer, now I want to know the best or simplest editing software to get a start. #entertainment #media #youtube

There are multiple programs you can use for editing footage. I personally prefer Adobe After Effects but there is a wider range of programs like Final Cut Pro for Macs (although I believe they are phasing that out and moving more towards the adobe products).
Free programs are available online like Wondershare as well.

Thank you comment icon That's interesting, I've never heard of Wondershare until I came across your post. I'll definitely be taking a look into it. :) Anudari

There are many different editing programs out there all geared toward the same thing. Much like brands of motor vehicles. Everyone has their own preference and opinion. If you're looking to do it professionally it would benefit you to be familiar with a variety of them. If you're only looking to edit videos to post on youtube then you definitely don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on any of them. Any modern day PC or MAC system include this basis software. PC includes "Windows Movie Maker" while Mac's include "iMovie." Both will do the job you're asking about and teach you the basics of all the programs. If you enjoy that then I would look further into acquiring a more advanced program like "Final Cut Pro", "Adobe Premiere Pro", or "Avid." Beyond that there are other beneficial programs to couple with those programs: "Adobe After Effects" for learning, you guessed it, after effects. "Adobe Illustrator" for logos and graphic design. "Adobe Photoshop" is a great one for any photography enthusiast. And "Pro Tools" would be suited for anyone in sound recording or producing music. So while all these softwares work within the frame you're asking about it ultimately comes down to how advanced are willing to pursue the craft.

Thank you comment icon Wow! You mentioned a lot of great programs, and not just geared towards video editing. Anudari

Adobe Premiere is probably the best choice if you want to learn an editing tool that you can use professionally. ( Adobe After Effects is great but that's intended for advanced motion graphic animation and not for regular editing. ) iMovie (mac) probably gives you enough functionality to get started without overwhelming you.

Hi
As mentioned above for editing you should look to learn adobe premiere, and I believe Adobe offer student pricing if you are in full time education. But there also some other free alternatives which can be great to start with. My suggestion is to look at getting hands on freebie called HitFilm Express and try this out. https://hitfilm.com/express

For the camera/video piece. If you are thinking of producing a video blog/series and want to do this well. I think you should look at what sort of setup you need to do a good job. e.g. will you need to do green screen, to drop in a graphic background. You will probably need lighting and microphone and potentially an audio recorder to get good audio quality. Just some things to consider.

Best of luck, sounds like a great idea and rewarding one when you build up an audience!

From my experience, editing software is only as good as the editor. If you can tell a good story it won't matter to your audience. Use the equipment/software that is available to you and go from there. I always encourage young filmmakers to just get busy shooting and cutting. Learn by doing. You'll find your best fit soon.

I would encourage you to start with Final cut pro and also learn adobe premiere for the first one year. Once you grasp stuff, Avid is one thing you want to explore.
