What was the greatest challenge you faced in college?

Congratulations on majoring in chemistry! I hope you enjoy it! As a fellow STEM major, I know that taking an abundance of science and math courses can be challenging but it is totally possible to succeed! The greatest challenge I faced seemed to come later on, as an upper division student. Usually this is when most students live in housing accommodations that are not dorms (most likely an apartment or a house). I would say to make sure to maintain your study habits through your 3rd and 4th years and find a way to not be distracted by new living arrangements. Sometimes these places do not have quiet places to study like dorms usually do. Take advantage of the libraries and other places on campus that allow you to really focus.

Hi Emma,

The hardest challenge I faced in college was picking a major and learning to live completely independently. Since you’ve already picked a major that won’t be a problem.

Being able to balance life, school and friends during college can be difficult if you’re on your own for the first time but with good planning you can do it easily. You’re already considering thr difficulties you might face in college so it sounds like you’re a planner. I think you’ll be very prepared for what’s next and I wish you the best of luck!
