Pam’s Answer

There are as many answers to this question as there are colleges. Make some decisions like what size school you would like to attend, how far away, public or private and how much you are willing to spend. There are many sites online that can help you narrow down your search like College Board, College Navigator and Niche. Some colleges may rank high in quality overall but not too high in the major you are interested in. Look for schools that have a low student-to-instructor ratio if that is important to you. Regardless of how a college or university is ranked, look at what percentage of students that begin a degree in the field you are interested in actually complete the degree. Also, what percentage of students have a job secured by the time the graduate or soon there after.

Noah’s Answer

This is a great question. There are thousands of colleges in the US, so it does become a little bit difficult to find what would best be suitable for you. There is a lot to think about when it comes to picking a college - tuition, potential scholarships, cost of living, social life, athletics, geographic location, etc. When I was in high school, I applied to schools that had excellent business programs because that is what I wanted to study. I would look for schools that have a high ranking in whatever subject you are trying to get into.

Ultimately, I would leverage the following resource - Fiske Guide to Colleges
It's a huge textbook, but you will find exactly what you are looking for - whether that is a college with nice weather, a college with a low tuition, a college that has highly-ranked, etc. First determine what you are looking for in a college, then go from there. Hope this helps!
