How important is the minor I choose? Should I choose a minor based on my passion also?

I am just wondering should I pick a minor in a field that backs up my major?

Reginald, good question. So your major and GPA are by far the two most important factors in your academic profile, nonetheless having a minor is also nice. Most employers do not ask about a minor, but if you can show how your minor adds to your major then all the power to you. The topic of your minor won't "make or break" anything, it can only help you so do not stress out too much about it. Using your minor to explore a passion is a good idea as the stakes are not too high. But, using a minor that is functional and backs up your major is also a smart idea as you will fully be using your school's resources to develop your specialty.

Choosing a minor that you're passionate about or something that will back up your major are both good options, it really depends what is more important to you. I chose my minor to back up my major, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing a minor to explore your interests. The choice is yours!!

Best,

Austin
