will college be enough to prepare me for an animation career?

I heard that most college schools teach the fundamentals of animation which is not enough for the animation industry as I've heard its extremely competitive. Employers will look at my portfolio more than my degree

Robert’s Answer

You are correct, depending upon the area of animation you plan to enter. Your educational credentials are only one part of the process, your resume (experience in the field) your portfolio and show reel are important, however your ability to produce and meet deadlines will help you keep any job you find. Either way, it is going to be a lifelong learning experience and you better be ready to keep up with the constant changes in technology if you want to stay on top in the competition.

Chaitra’s Answer

Along with the College degree, it is also required that you know few tools used for animation. Check for these online. If you can learn these, it will add to your skill set.
