For a mechanical engineering student how does take a minor in aerospace helps ?

The university I study in offers a minor in aerospace if ur studying ME, and i wanted to know if it would help my career if i took it , or I'm better off taking 3 other ME electives in different areas since that's what they offer. #engineering #mechanical-engineering #aerospace

Hi, Aysha,

Before I offer any advice, can you tell me if the university explicitly states that this is a minor or a degree emphasis? There is a big difference between the two.

Thank you comment icon Hi George, thanks for taking the time to answer my question, I really appreciate that. They state it's a minor and if i take it I also have to take one ME elective plus science elective, whereas if I don't take it i have to take 3 ME electives and 1 science elective. Aysha

Stephen’s Answer

Hello,

If you know that you would like to get into the aerospace field, a minor in aerospace engineering could be a big help. Industries like aerospace and medical devices can be very difficult to break into at first and a minor can be that extra boost to get your foot in the door. I wish I had taken the extra 2 classes to get a minor in materials science so I could move into that field more easily.
