How do you start paying for college?

I'm about to start college in the fall, and I'm applying for scholarships and saving up from working part-time. I understand how to earn money from college, I just don't know how payment works. Will I have to pay for classes before school starts, will it all hit me after I receive my degree? This part has never been explained to me, and I am a bit nervous about potentially missing a payment for college and losing my opportunity.

This really depends on how much financial aid you will receive. Typically, the amount of financial aid will be applied to your balance for your classes. Whatever is not covered you will be required to pay by a specific deadline. Keep in mind additional expenses related to school - (textbooks, labs, materials, living expenses, etc.)

I remember feeling the same way about how does payment work. I would reach out to the college about how payment works. I know that you can apply for FAFSA and pick your college in the application process. In the past, it has taken a week after classes start to get full payment but you can also get payment before classes for books and supplies. I have never had to worry about payment for FAFSA or scholarships as they are aware of when school semesters begin. If something doesn't seem right, I would suggest contacting the financial aid or admissions office at your educational institution for guidance or support. I hope this helps.
