What other jobs can you go into that has good pay other than teaching with the degree of Family and Consumer Sciences?

I plan to become a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and I would like to know the other alternatives I can go into if I end up with a bachelor degree and there isn't a teaching position available for me.

Candace’s Answer

Hi Tria!

I work for a Fortune 500 company and we have a number of roles that focus on Project Management. I would encourage you to check into a Project Management certification to add to your undergraduate degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. Your degree has probably given you a number of opportunities to manage projects so this certification would be a great add on in the situation that you want to continue into the corporate workforce.

Candace recommends the following next steps:

Check out Project Management certification programs as your college or online colleges.

B.K.’s Answer

There are so many. I have taught Family and Consumer Sciences. However, this was not my first career. You can work as a consultant; choose a specialty area. You can start your own business in a specific area. You can work in research, sales, become a director, become a writer, produce your own online informational show, work in project management, and work as a program coordinator to name a few. You can virtually create your own path depending upon your interests and skills.

B.K. recommends the following next steps:
