Be active in every step of taking the course. That means when selecting your schedule, you should do research to find out the average grade in a class and how others feel it is difficulty wise. Try to only take one or two difficult classes a semester with some easier courses as fillers (maybe gen eds). This will allow you to focus more of your time on the harder classes while still pulling an A in the easier classes. The next thing is research on ratemyprofessor.com which teachers are the nicest/fairest graders/meet your learning style. This will ensure you don't find yourself in a class where the teacher is hurting your chance at a 4.0. Lastly, take advantage of the schools pass fail policy as some schools will let you take classes pass fail that still fulfill requirements, and only count towards the gpa if it helps you (an A).

Hi! Personally, it was smart note-taking that minimized the time wondering what would be on the test. It'll take a while to get used to esp as freshmen in college, but you'll get better as you learn your major and professors. Keep up with assignments and readings! HOWEVER, as much as you should do well in school and excel, remember your grades and your GPA does not define you. I struggled with this. When I went job hunting after graduating, employers cared that I just had the degree, not my GPA. So study hard, but its not everything. Enjoy student life, find friends and network, volunteer, find a passion. Those matter more on a resume. Good luck!
