The best marketing school for what? For marketing roles in global package goods companies? For automotive manufacturer brands? For franchisee ownership? For startups and entrepreneurial companies? Without narrowing in on your question, it's impossible to truly answer it in a meaningful way in my opinion.
Consider what you want to do near- and long-term, and if you'll want or need an advanced degree (Masters or more) to be considered, and then narrow in on what universities to consider. Oh, and factor in what you can or are wiling to afford, as you also have to factor in the full financial cost of going to school.
Once you narrow in on what you want to do after college, you'll be better equipped to consider universities that meet your criteria on a wide range of factors - graduation rates, entrance requirements, cost, geography, curriculum requirements, etc.
Given how important a decision this is, do lots of research with high school counselors, college counselors (ideally at the universities you've short-listed), graduates of the program you're considering, hiring managers at the kinds of companies you're hoping to work for someday and more.
Marketing is an incredible arena, so hope you pursue it and have a great time!

I did marketing at Purdue University and then grad school at Texas A&M University. Both schools were great. Not sure how they officially rank. It's really dependent on how you apply yourself in the program you enter. You could be # 1 in your class at a lesser known school and that would look better to a potential company than getting bad grades at a great school.

Chris Perkins is right, it all depends on what kind of marketing you want to do after college. Also very interesting that the Top 10 list doesn't include any schools on the West Coast, and some schools I've never heard of personally. Being in SF Bay Area and working in Silicon Valley, there are many good schools out here for Marketing: Santa Clara University, Golden Gate University, and of course Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA. Chris' advice is very sound--there are many many factors to think about when choosing an undergraduate school. A book like the Fisk Guide to Colleges is really helpful to look at options.
Good luck!

In my opinion, there is no 'best marketing' school. The emphasis should really be in achieving a college degree and if you want to continue higher education, go for an MBA or other schooling. Excited that you're interested in Marketing. Keep up the commitment IN applying to many schools and go visit them. Going out there and meeting the students/faculty will give you the insights you need to select where you want to spend your college time. Good luck!

You can always research the best schools by topic online. The US News is one of the more prominent sites that ranks colleges. Looks like they have Univ. of Michigan ranked #1. There are quite a few Big Ten schools such as Indiana, Ohio State and others on their list.

Adam’s Answer
Marketing is a general term and craft, and can get specific in the areas of subject matter expertise (SME): brand and product marketing, research, pricing, SEO/inbound marketing/website management and optimization; CRM, direct marketing. What cuts across all of the SME areas is using data and financial/economic acumen to inform decisions and strategies.
Consider other majors, double majors, minors in areas of statistics, economics, finance, data modeling as education and skills that will support and balance out your marketing interest and studies.

Another really important thing to remember: the best way to get a job in marketing is to ask a great marketer for advice. Find someone who has a career path you like, study them, decide why you like their approach, and send them a thoughtful, well written request for 15 mins of their time. They'll say yes, and you'll have made a great connection to add to your network.

I also encourage you to investigate learning about marketing in addition to going to school. Read books about marketing (consult Amazon to see what bestsellers they have on this topic) and subscribe to newsletters and blogs. Colleges will teach fundamentals of marketing but it helps to stay current on marketing events and trends in the marketplace.Try googling 'best marketing blogs' and subscribe to a few that look interesting. Going to business school is great but you need to complement your 'book knowledge' with real world knowledge and actively learn from others in the field.
