What United States Colleges Have the Best Entomology Programs?

Hey! I am an aspiring entomologist and am currently trying to decide what colleges would be best for my desired field. I live in the south but really am willing to go pretty much anywhere in the United States to study. #entomology #colleges #picking #programs

Hi Kamryn, If you are seeking a degree in Entomology I recommend checking out University of Florida, its a large public university and in 2015 had 42 students received Entomology degrees.  Also check out Texas A &M University-College Station, the university offers 4 Entomology degree programs and had 57 students receive degrees in Entomology in 2015. Universities.com is an excellent website that will provide you with valuable information on your select field, college tuition cost, and best colleges.

Hi Kamryn,

I haven't looked at the rankings but I know friends who have launched successful careers with degrees from both the University of Florida and the University of North Florida. If you are interested in the field, and possibly thinking about higher education beyond a bachelors, I'd recommend finding a bug podcast (they most certainly exist), listening to Science Friday by NPR, reading articles on Science News and other journals, and other media outlets and seeing where the interviewed scientists went to school. Find people doing what you want to do, and work backwards. For research-based educations, it's about the professor or program in addition to the ranking of the school as a whole. One great mentor can be worth as much as 100 like-minded students.

I'm not an entomologist so this is just my earnest attempt to steer you in the right direction. Hope this helps.
