How diverse is the field of nursing at hospitals?
I am latina and I desire to pursue a career in Nursing. I’ve worked at KPMG and at U.S Bank and discovered that there is not a lot of diversity in the profession worksite. I would be pleased to know if nursing is a more diverse field than other professions involving business. #healthcare #professional #nursing #diversity #nurse-practitioner

Hi Gelsey, I think it is great that you are interested in nursing after you have experienced other careers. My former boss and mentor at an accounting firm was a pediatric nurse who became an accountant, so it is all possible and it's exciting that you have that interest. Generally, the nursing profession has a lot of diversity though hospitals have identified needs for more professionals who speak foreign languages (for example, Spanish). How diverse your workplace as a nurse would be depends on the location, though. You can look into that when you begin exploring jobs. For example, when I briefly worked at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland I found out that about 50% of all medical professionals at the Clinic were born outside the United States and really came from very diverse backgrounds. Some smaller hospitals or healthcare organizations may offer less diversity (for example, rural locations), but would still be rewarding places to work. You, with your background, can add to this diversity. Good luck!
