Typically 8 years of school to become a veterinarian, but only 2-4 to be a veterinary nurse (usually known as a veterinary technician). Licensing requirements vary from in different states. Many community colleges offer a 2 year associate’s degree in veterinary technology

William’s Answer

Nursing has many different licenses and specialties. In general, you are looking at 2 plus years of schooling depending on what type of nurse you are looking to become. LPN licenses require the least schooling. RN you need at minimum a Associate degree which takes about 3 years including pre-req's. Rn's can also get a bachelor's which is a 4-year degree. There are also specialties and areas to advance into which could take you all the way to a doctorate degree. Nursing is a profession with many options so you can put as much into it as you would like. At minimum though I would think you're looking at 2 years of school.

William recommends the following next steps:

look at what you want to accomplish in nursing and what the minimum qualifications are. Also research the pay differences between different degrees and what they allow you to do in nursing that way you can determine which one is right for you to accomplish your goals.
