Hi Shelby C. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.
I agree with many of the previous answers on the impact of volunteering. Not only is it a great habit to form :) but it does show how you make efforts to positively impact those around you...generally a good look on a college application.
I would also add, where possible, demonstrate your leaderships skills or roles in school clubs (or even clubs or activities outside of school). Demonstrating leadership skills like leading a team, winning a competition, these types of accomplishments are not only good foundations for building confidence but again, they demonstrate your ability to get positive things done in your community and for others.

Get a job. Admissions committees love to see work experience on the applications. I worked fast food. Do volunteer work--humanitarian stuff. Do something unusual. I used to do Olympic Weightlifting. I set an Olympic record for my weight and age in middle school.
