I recently switched schools for my senior year of high school and did not get any letters or recommendation, are there scholarships available for students with no letters of recomendation?

DeCosmon’s Answer

Yes, there are scholarships that do not require a recommendation; however, I would speak to your previous teachers to see if they could write you a recommendation.  Recommendations show your character.  You can ask your current teacher(s) to write you a recommendation.

Good luck,

Dee

If you are able, contact your previous school and ask that they forward you some letters of recommendation. If the school are unable to do so then have you done any volunteer work? Are you a member of any other groups, sporting or academic? These group leaders should also be able to provide letters of recommendation . Best of Luck!

Veronica’s Answer

As in the answer above, yes there are but truth is that having someone talk about your character will differentiate from someone else. Recommendations are key in the selection process and can be the reason why two students with same grades and having gone to similar schools are selected. If you don't have any teacher that would write you to you, think of people that know you, maybe a sport coach, maybe a music instrument teacher, maybe someone you volunteer or work with or even someone that guide you on a specific project at school. At the end of the day, you need someone that can speak on your behalf and give a little bit of an overview on who you are, what are you good at, what makes you special or good in a specific topic or what are the things you struggle a little bit and should focus on.

Veronica recommends the following next steps:

Think of things you have done . Was there someone that could attest how you worked with them? How you participate?
Reach out to those people and ask maybe 2 questions to them: what do they see in you that was important in that task? why were you good at that? what things you should focus on improving?
