How to choose between majors?

I'm currently a computer engineering major, but I have interests in English and linguistics. I was considering minoring in these subjects, but do you have any suggestions on how I can incorporate all these interests into my college life? #majorsandminors

Hello, Marielle!

As a higher education professional, I have supported college students majoring in STEM.

While most of my Engineering students disliked taking English classes, some of my students pursued minors in English/Linguistics. I think completing your degree in Computer Engineering and completing a minor in English/Linguistics may give you a "competitive edge" over other job candidates as a future college graduate . Not only will you show competency in mathematics, computer engineering, and computer science, but with writing as well. I am certain the English/Linguistics minor will enable you to write reports and showcase your excellent written communication skills as a future Computer Engineer. Nonetheless, I recommend you seek academic counseling from an Academic Advisor concerning your major, minor, and career interests. Best of luck with your educational and professional endeavors!
