Warren,

Great question! It is a common misconception to think that you must be enrolled in a "pre-Med" program in order to get into medical school. Although the coursework in these programs will help you in studying for the MCAT (Medical School entrance exam), and may help you with your medical school classes, it is not technically necessary. Good luck!

Best,

George

Hi Warren! When you are in college you can be any major you want and apply to medical school. The "premed studies" are classes you are taking that are required for medical school known as prerequisite courses, they aren't a program to be enrolled in. The courses are biology, inorganic/organic chemistry, physics, English, and math (like calculus and biostats), etc. Your premed adviser will have a list of required and recommended courses so be sure to check that out.

Best of luck!
