Kortnee, that's a great question. Congratulations on taking your next step, college is exciting . The best advice that I could give would be the next three tips:

1. Explore : make it an adventure to try new things and identify what you're interested in. Dare to be different

2. Talk to your peers and professors. You will learn so much from people with different cultures and years of experience .

3. Have fun ! Enjoy yourself, and be courageous. You will learn so much from your college years and the relationships that you build , the resources that you acquire will give you a head start on future endeavors.

Angel recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of different interests or hobbies that you enjoy. Begin to explore those things that you write down .

Congratulations, Jessica on your acceptance into college!

You will love your college experience.

As a higher education professional, I can recommend the following steps that will ensure academic success for your first year at college.

Kortnee recommends the following next steps:

Get to know your peers and form study groups.
Get enough sleep.
Never pull an "all-nighter" by ensuring you study in increments throughout the week. For example, if you are enrolled in 12 units/credits (multiply 12 units/credits x 3 hours) and you should study at least 36 hours outside of class each week to ensure you are academically successful.
Become an active participant in class each day.
Visit your professors during office hours and meet with your Academic Advisor to ensure you are on the right track with graduating from your university. Last, ensure you are connecting with on-campus resources (e.g. tutoring, visiting your on-campus library, and attending academic study skills workshops). Best of luck with your educational and professional endeavors!

Congratulations on your acceptance into college! Starting college is an exciting time in your life. While starting college is an exciting time it can also be overwhelming time if you do not managers your time. I would recommend utilizing using the calendar and reminders on your phone to schedule your classes as well as due dates for assignments. Planning ahead with the reminders will keep you organized and will eliminate any last minute all nighters for exams or papers. When you begin college it will feel like you will have all this extra time but staying on top of your assigned reading daily is crucial. Be careful with participating in too many extra curriculars, and social engagements until you become familiar with managing your time. Getting enough sleep, and eating on a normal schedule will be important to your health. Budgeting your money will an important challenge you will face especially during your freshman year. To maintain a budget spend within your means. Avoid all the free credit card offers and keep just one with a lower limit. Credit card interest can be costly and negative credit will follow you.

Plan your assignments, join a study group, meet your professors, get enough sleep, watch how many late night pizzas you consume and enjoy the ride! The next four years will fly by so take in every moment.

Marc’s Answer

Moving on to college is an awesome step in your journey of life! I know it can be a little daunting to go to this new environment, but this is your opportunity to explore your potential. My advise would be to challenge yourself to learn something new and look for your passion. In my journey I changed my mind about my degree several times but my purpose never changed. I'm committed to helping people grow and learn. My original passion for teaching has evolved to a non-traditional classroom in a corporate environment. Try something new to find what you love!

Marc recommends the following next steps:

Go to the involvement fair because learning doesn't stop in the classroom. Find that club or organization that helps you drive your passions further.
