Conor’s Answer

So making computers, and doing things with them - for example writing software, which is typically what computer engineering refers to - are two very different jobs.

For the latter, of which there are many more jobs, salaries typically range in the mid five figures to low six figures ($50 - 100,000) when you start out, and proceed from there.

It's good work but it does require a high mathematical and problem solving aptitude that has to be cultivated from a young age -- so being a teenager and thinking about this kind of thing is a good place to start.

Spero’s Answer

Tough question to accurately answer since it varies based on your experience, what geo you are located, the company you work for, etc. The best advice I can provide is focus on your interests and passions and the money will follow. If you are passionate about computers suggest you get experience both in Software engineering and Electrical Engineering. This will provide you the flexibility to pursue a multitude of jobs. Hope this helps.
