I would like to find local scholarships

I have tried google searches looking for local scholarships that I could win that fewer people are eligible for and I'm coming up empty. I've tried my financial institutions. I've applied for as many as I possibly could from what I have found, but I'd like to increase my chances with something local. #scholarships

Elise’s Answer

I received a handful of local scholarships when I was graduating high school. My first piece of advise is to reach out to your guidance counselor at school - they should be able to provide a list of local organizations that offer scholarships. The local scholarships are usually smaller than the national ones, but they are less competitive since they have fewer applicants, so apply to as many as possible and they will start to add up!

Elise recommends the following next steps:

Reach out to teachers and your guidance counselor
Apply to scholarships in your town, county, and state - the more you apply to the better your chances are! I applied to one scholarship a day for a few months my senior year and it really paid off.

Scott’s Answer

I found success with local scholarships through sports organizations, academic fraternities and civic groups that have a common interest. I'd suggest evaluating interests and affiliations that you and/or your parents have in the local community. Check the organizations respective websites and see if they offer scholarships. You might also look for state or local scholarship awards that you might be eligible for.
